My son is very brave. In fact, he's so brave, he's probably going to break the family tradition of brainiac desk-jobs and become a fire fighter when he grows up. I know this because he is already readying himself for this risky job.
We went for an evening walk recently, and Daniel, ever vigilant for danger such as forest fires, wore his fire-fighting gear and equipment. Here he is:
He had his hat, walkie-talkies and fire fighting ax. He needed the ax not only to battle any fires that might spontaneously spring up while we were out for our evening stroll, but also to protect his gentle-hearted sister, who --shockingly -- was carrying no self-protective weaponry at all! Just some bird-watching equipment:
Here he is blazing a trail for her through the, um, wilderness, flashing his badge and ax at anything threatening:
He checked in with her the whole walk, to make sure she wasn't being
threatened by any homicidal squirrels or flaming trees or anything:
Little did we know that our peaceful walk was about to be cut short by an encounter with something far, far worse than a homicidal squirrel or flaming tree. For we were about to run across that most fearsome of beasts: a rogue, solitary mosquito. As it buzzed by us, Daniel immediately freaked out and beat a hasty retreat back to our cabin.
Bravery does have it's limits, after all. For Indiana Jones, it's snakes. For Daniel, mosquitoes. And, as any fire fighter can tell you, axes are useless against mosquitoes.
What a fantastic little story! Awesome photography too. Daniel makes a cute little firefighter. You'll have to get him one of those mosquito racquets that zap the bugs when you hit them. Although he might feel the need to change careers for that, lol.

That's adorable! In our house my 7yo declared that he's not afraid of anything, but he's afraid of the dark and thunderstorms.
